David Pastrnak and the Boston Bruins are looking to bounce back in 2025-26.
After eight consecutive playoff appearances, the Bruins found themselves in uncharted territory last season, on the outside looking in, which resulted in core pieces like Brad Marchand and Brandon Carlo, among others, getting shipped out of town.
Selling at the deadline is not something they want to become the norm down in Boston, and management showed that this summer by attempting to retool the roster with the goal of competing this upcoming season and beyond.
While they made some nice additions, the success of the Bruins will ultimately come down to their stars, and particularly David Pastrnak. The superstar winger is one of the best players in the game, and the team only goes as far as he can take them.
That’ll be the same this season, which is why fans were concerned to hear the news that Pastrnak had been dealing with tendonitis in his knee. On Monday, the two-time all-star provided the media with some details regarding the nagging injury he’s played through for years now. Bruins play-by-play broadcaster Bridgette Proulx shared the clip of his comments on X (formerly Twitter).
“Oh yeah, I mean, I played with it the whole year last year, so I wouldn’t be too worried about it; we’ll see. I spent a lot of time in the summer to make it better, and it did get much better than it was last year. Obviously, it wasn’t perfect; it’s not perfect yet, so it was perfect timing to try to get it even better than it already got better. So, like I said, nothing too concerning; it’s just something that’s been nagging me for a very long time,” Pastrnak said.

The 29-year-old is locked in for six more seasons on the eight-year, $90 million extension he signed with the Bruins back in 2023.
Boston needs a healthy Pastrnak
If the Boston Bruins want any chance of making a return to the postseason in 2025-26, they’ll need David Pastrnak healthy and in the lineup at all times.
Pastrnak has taken his game to another level over the last three years, tallying three consecutive 100+ point seasons, in all of which he buried more than 40 goals.
He’s done that while dealing with the nagging knee ailment and has managed to play in all 82 games during that time. For that reason, Bruins fans shouldn’t be too worried about the injury, as he’s proven well capable of playing through it and still producing at an extremely high level.
