Browns, Titans named potential trade partners for Giants’ 1st-round draft bust

The Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns were recently listed as potential trade suitors for a New York Giants offensive lineman who has been a bust since being drafted in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft.

Evan Neal is through three seasons of his NFL career and things are only getting worse for him in New York.

After failing to cement himself as a starting-caliber player at offensive tackle over his first three years in the NFL, New York moved Neal to guard. But that hasn’t panned out, either, as Neal has been a healthy scratch for the first two games.

Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox thinks it’s just a matter of time before Neal gets traded, and he thinks the Browns and Titans could be suitors.

It’s hard to believe, but Neal’s value—both to prospective employers and to New York as a trade chip—continues to drop.

For teams willing to take a flier on Neal, though, he does have untapped potential and that always-alluring first-round pedigree.

Potential Suitors: Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans

Knox believes Neal will garner a conditional seventh-round pick, which we believe is an accurate value for the embattled Alabama product.

The Titans have one of the worst offensive lines in the spot. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward has been sacked 11 times through two games, the most in the NFL, and Tennessee’s offensive line woes have been a yearly thing for far too long now.

Granted, Neal isn’t likely to solve those issues for the Titans, but pairing him with legendary offensive line coach Bill Callahan is the best chance Neal’s going to get to resurrect his career.

The Browns have actually been pretty solid in pass protection so far this season, with Cleveland giving up just four sacks in two contests, so they really don’t have much of a need for a project like Neal.

That said, at the cheap price Knox suggests, it’s hard to rule out any team from taking a flyer on Neal.
