Shedeur Sanders could approach his rookie NFL season in many different ways.
As a fifth-round pick, although a much-hyped one, his expectations are lower than if he had gone in the first round. His last name still has plenty of eyes watching the Cleveland Browns to see how he does, though.
Sanders’ best former teammate, Travis Hunter, offered some advice recently.
Hunter, who won the Heisman at Colorado and also played with Sanders at Jackson State, wants Sanders to assert himself.
“He’s also got to go in there and be the head of the offense, so he’s gotta go in there and be a leader,” Hunter told Fox.

In a crowded QB room, that won’t be easy.
The Browns have veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett along with third-round rookie Dillon Gabriel.
There’s a fine balance for rookies between stepping on the toes of those who have come before them while also trying to make their own mark.
“We definitely got to be leaders, especially me,” Hunter told Fox. “I was the number two overall pick, so I gotta come in and be a leader. Shedeur, he’s gotta go in there and work, earn his job just like me.”
Hunter likely will earn his job, all two-ways of it, quicker than Sanders.
But there’s still a chance for Shedeur to be a starting NFL quarterback down the road. It all starts with how he approaches his tasks now, day in and day out.
