Shedeur Sanders has a lot of work to do to earn playing time with the Cleveland Browns. However, a recent prediction from an NFL analyst would bring Sanders one step closer to obtaining the starting spot.
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox predicts that veteran quarterback Joe Flacco won’t live up to expectations in Cleveland and will be the team’s biggest bust in the 2025 season.
“Any fans hoping to see a repeat of Flacco Fever are going to be disheartened. Assuming Flacco even beats out the other three quarterbacks, he’s not joining a roster that is a QB away from postseason contention,” Knox wrote.
The Browns are set to hold a quarterback competition in training camp between Flacco, Sanders, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel. Flacco, who is the most experienced out of the bunch, is one of the current favorites to win the job, along with Pickett.
Though Flacco is the current favorite to be the starter, training camp will be the deciding factor. If the Super Bowl-winning quarterback disappoints in camp and Sanders impresses, the Colorado legend would gain significant ground in the competition.
Obviously, Sanders doesn’t need to beat just Flacco out, as Pickett and Gabriel are also in the race. However, the 23-year-old signal-caller would benefit greatly from Flacco underperforming in camp in August.
