Browns expected to hire top defensive coordinator as new head coach in 2026

There aren’t many who have high expectations for the Cleveland Browns in 2025. They have one of the worst quarterback rooms in the NFL, and their group of skill position players around that quarterback leaves a lot to be desired.

With that in mind, it’s likely that the Browns will have another down season. Should that happen, it’s certainly possible that Kevin Stefanski is gone, and Cleveland is looking for a new head coach – enter Brian Flores.

In a recent piece for Touchdown Wire, I predicted that the Browns will move on from Stefanski and hire the Minnesota Vikings’ defensive coordinator.

Flores is one of the best coordinators in the NFL. The Vikings’ defense is one of the most unique and complicated to figure out, and he’s been a head coach at the NFL level before (and was wrongly fired by the Miami Dolphins). He deserves another shot at being a head coach, and the Browns would benefit from bringing him in, and he could also bring former Browns quarterback Josh McCown with him as his offensive coordinator.
