Dillon Gabriel has flown a bit under the radar in all of this.
Sure, he was drafted 50 picks before Shedeur Sanders, but that was Shedeur Sanders, and once the Cleveland Browns took a second QB in the same draft, the whirlwind ensued.
Now, the former UCF/Oklahoma/Oregon quarterback Gabriel is just trying to prove he belongs in the NFL.
He hit a bump in the road last week, when a hamstring injury kept him out of Cleveland’s preseason opener.

It could be a big opportunity for the lefty, who has seen first-team reps this summer. That’s in part because an oblique injury is expected to sideline Sanders after he made an impressive preseason debut last week.
Gabriel had the chance to speak with reporters after Wednesday’s joint practice with the Philadelphia Eagles, and he offered a bit of a philosophical outlook on the whole situation, via The Athletic’s Zac Jackson:
“I’m just right where my feet are.”
Gabriel also summed up the thoughts of many following this battle with these words: “I have no clue what’s gonna happen.”
Nobody really does.

For now, Gabriel is taking the right approach and doing the best he can. That’s all he can do as he focuses on staying where his feet are and making the most of what’s in front of him.
