Browns add a rookie free agent named Sanders to join Shedeur

The Cleveland Browns will have another Sanders in their building as the season approaches.

No, not Shilo.

Joining Shedeur in Cleveland will be Raheim Sanders, more affectionately known throughout his football career as Rocket.

The Browns claimed Rocket off waivers from the Los Angeles Chargers on Wednesday, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

It’s a logical move for the Browns, who cut RB Pierre Strong on Tuesday and likely needed more depth at the position.

This Sanders was an undrafted free agent who spent the summer with the Chargers.

He began his college career at Arkansas, where he played three seasons. The 2022 campaign was by far his best, a 1,443 rushing yard season in which he led the SEC with 6.5 yards per carry and scored 10 touchdowns on the ground.

He spent his final college campaign at South Carolina. In 2024 with the Gamecocks, Sanders ran 183 times for 881 yards (4.8 ypc) and scored 11 TDs.

He’s a huge running back, at 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, and he gets moving quite impressively, thus the nickname.

The Browns have two established backs atop the depth chart in Jerome Ford and Dylan Sampson.

Second-round pick Quinshon Judkins is still unsigned and in limbo as the Browns await the ongoing NFL investigation’s conclusion.

Sanders could found his way into action as a short-yardage or goal-line back. Cleveland clearly thinks he’s worth having around, and now they’ve got double the Sanders.
