The Cleveland Browns have too many quarterbacks for their wide receivers.
With four QBs in competition, Cleveland has to improvise. Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders all need their reps in training camp.
And that means equipment guys are playing receiver.
Seriously.
This info comes courtesy of The Athletic’s Zac Jackson:
WR Mike Woods not out here for practice today. Equipment guys having to jump in at the end of pass drills again because there aren’t enough receivers for full runs with 4 QBs. https://t.co/QxamiFOmrf

This isn’t an issue that can really exist during the regular season, because repetitions are more reserved for the top quarterback as the offense prepares for a given opponent.
But right now, with the Browns trying to see what they have in every QB, they all need action, sometimes at multiple spots of the field at the same time.
Cleveland has carried about a dozen WRs all summer, but injuries can foil that a bit.
No word yet on whether any equipment guys will get a contract to suit up.
