The Cleveland Browns may be 2-5, but their defense has been one of the best in the league so far in 2025. You could argue that their two wins come solely from that side of the ball.
They currently rank fifth in the league, holding offenses to -0.08 EPA/play thanks to their No. 1 run defense.
But their defensive line is about to get another boost, with the return of a 2024 second-round pick.
Michael Hall expected to make season debut
Browns defensive tackle Michael Hall Jr. is expected to make his season debut Sunday against the New England Patriots, per head coach Kevin Stefanski.
The 54th overall pick out of Ohio State tore his MCL and dislocated his knee last year and has been recovering since.
In eight games last season, the former Buckeye recorded 14 tackles, one sack, and three tackles for loss.
Hall, ironically enough, has never played for a football team not located in Ohio.
“The Ohio native was a standout at Ohio State. After redshirting his true freshman season, Hall became starter on the Buckeyes defensive line,” wrote Sports Illustrated’s Ty Kohler.
“Hall struggled with injury again during his sophomore year in college. He appeared in 28 career games for the Buckeyes, racking up 45 tackles, six sacks and earning all-Big Ten team honors twice.”
Cleveland’s already vaunted defensive line has gotten even better with the return of Hall, who surely rotates in and out as he makes his debut after a year off from football.
