Bronny James casts doubt on LeBron’s retirement, contract questions with Lakers

Bronny James enjoyed his rookie season as a teammate of his father, the legendary LeBron James.

But Bronny isn’t sure what comes next.

In an interview with Fox Sports, Bronny shared his uncertainty about where LeBron will be next season.

Some wonder if the King will retire. He’s also got a contract opt-out in play.

“I’m looking forward to learning more from him, if he’s still here or not, either way,” Bronny said. “But I’m just looking forward to it.”

Maybe that’s a hint that LeBron will be back, given the initial affirmation Bronny spoke with before throwing in the “either way” part of things.

Or maybe that’s Bronny trying to limit revealing any sort of truth.

Either way, the No. 55 pick in the 2024 draft had a special season.

“It’s a blessing,” Bronny said. “Being able to learn from him, not only as a player, but as a dad. It’s a different type of relationship. I try to take full advantage of it because it’s something that a lot of people can’t have. It was an amazing experience for me.”

Bronny wasn’t a huge contributor, often shuttling back and forth between the G League.

He had a 39-point G League game and a 12-point NBA game.

After a stop-and-start lone college season at USC, Bronny simply still has a big learning curve.

He’ll get to learn from his father either way. But whether they’re teammates or not in 2025-26 remains to be seen.
