The Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles meet in one of the most interesting games of Week 5 on Sunday.
The Broncos bounced back last week following two straight devastating losses to get a 25-point win over the Cincinnati Bengals. The Eagles, the defending Super Bowl champions, are off to an undefeated start to the season and look to be on a mission to repeat.
In history, these two teams have only played 14 games against one another. The Eagles lead that all-time series 9-5. For the Broncos, winning in Philadelphia has been quite rare. In seven trips to the “City of Brotherly Love”, the Broncos have won just one time.
That came nearly 40 years ago. The date was September 21, 1986, and the Broncos won in a blowout of the Eagles at the old Veterans Stadium, 33-7. John Elway threw for just 96 yards in that game but the Broncos had a safety, an interception returned for a touchdown and Sammy Winder rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns.
Since then, the Broncos have lost in their last four trips to Philly by an average score of 35.5 to 15.7. The Broncos haven’t beaten the Eagles at all since the 2013 season, a 52-20 victory when Peyton Manning was breaking all-time records and Chip Kelly was coaching the Eagles.
Interestingly, the Eagles are the only NFC East team the Broncos haven’t played in the Super Bowl.

The Broncos and Eagles will kick off at 11:00 AM Mountain time on Sunday. The game will be televised on CBS and Jim Nantz and Tony Romo will have the call.
