Broncos linked to Micah Parsons trade after Cowboys star requests move due to contract issues

The Dallas Cowboys’ phones are probably ringing off the hook.

Superstar defensive end Micah Parsons requested a trade on Friday afternoon. And even if Dallas doesn’t want to comply with the request, other teams are surely checking in on Parsons’ availability.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio came up with a few possible destinations in a new article Friday night, but one was especially interesting: the Denver Broncos.

“The Broncos become an interesting option, too,” Florio writes. “Ownership has the money to make it happen. And getting Parsons would thrust Denver into the upper echelon of the AFC.”

The Broncos have had legendary pass rushers in the past, including Von Miller and a late-career DeMarcus Ware.

Parsons is the best young edge player in the game. He has at least a dozen sacks in each of his first four NFL seasons out of Penn State.

Entering the final year of his rookie deal, Parsons wants an extension. Whoever pays it will set the new record for non-QB contract, and it’ll be worth it.

Parsons evidently isn’t getting that from Dallas.

This is part of the message he wrote on social media on Friday:

“Yes I wanted to be here. I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a Cowboy and wear the star on my helmet. I wanted to play in front of the best fans in sports and make this America’s Team once again. The team my pops and I grew up cheering for way up in Harrisburg, Pa. Unfortunately, I no longer want to be here. I no longer want to be held to closed door negotiations without my agent present. I no longer want shots taken at me for getting injured while laying it on the line for the organization, our fans and my teammates. I no longer want narratives created and spread to the media about me.”

Parsons obviously isn’t happy. Maybe the Cowboys can still swoop in and save the day, but maybe not.

And if Parsons really won’t budge, then Dallas will have to pick up the phone. Denver should be on the other end of the line.
