Brian Schottenheimer says he expects Micah Parsons to play in the season opener

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer did confirm to the press on Tuesday that he expects Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons to play in the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles next Thursday despite his contract dispute.

Schottenheimer met with his star linebacker about his behavior on the sidelines last Friday night in the Cowboys’ last pre-season game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Parsons could be seen lying on the medical table, which prompted Schottenheimer to call him into his office to talk.

According to Clarence Hill Jr., Schottenheimer said he had a long talk with Micah Parsons about his body language. He still believes Parsons will play against the Eagles. He said Parsons would likely be on limited reps against the Eagles because he hasn’t practiced and has been bothered by a tight back.

Parsons has complained recently about back pain, but his MRI came back clean. If Parsons does play, it confirms what many players have been saying: that they believe Parsons wants to remain in Dallas and play for the team.

“Most definitely [he wants to stay here],” said Trevon Diggs who is close to Parsons, via the team’s official website. “Like I’ve heard him say before, he plays the game for us. We go out there —, blood, sweat and tears. We work out together. We train together.

Diggs added, “It’s really about him being with us, at the end of the day, so I know for sure he wants to be out there with us and helping this team win. This is his home. This is his family.

“Why wouldn’t he want to be here?”

Sounds like one way or another, Micah Parsons will play for the Cowboys this season.
