Brewers’ manager Pat Murphy honors Bob Uecker with special tattoo

There may not have been a more loved person in the sport of baseball outside of Bob Uecker. He was the legendary broadcaster for the Milwaukee Brewers for 54 seasons.

His joking nature and true love for the club were something that the fans loved. And he even had a stint in the acting world, most notably playing George Owens in Mr. Belvedere, but also played a role in the Major League franchise, played a parody of himself on Disney’s Monsters at Work, and had a role in the old Miller Lite commercials.

To honor the legendary broadcaster, the Brewers wore a patch dedicated to him. It was stitched on the sleeve of the uniform and included a plaid pattern with Uecker’s signature across a blue ribbon.

Since taking over for Craig Counsell, Pat Murphy has been special in Milwaukee. He won the NL’s Manager of the Year Award last season and is well on his way to winning it again.

He has a great way of connecting with his players and is full of funny moments. He has become known for eating pancakes and quesadillas during games and in interviews, but his latest viral moment contains no funny business.

According to team beat writer Todd Rosiak, Murphy got the Bob Uecker patch tattooed on his arm. He revealed the new ink on Friday as Milwaukee prepared for its Saturday game against the Chicago Cubs. Coincidentally, Friday was the anniversary of Uecker’s final radio call with the Brew Crew.
