BREAKING: Red Sox trade slugging All-Star third baseman to the Giants

The Boston Red Sox have traded slugging All-Star third baseman Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants.

The Giants are trading right-hander Jordan Hicks, left-hander Kyle Harrison, outfielder James Tibbs III and right-hander Jose Bello, per Robert Murray.

The Red Sox have won five games in a row since losing top Major League Baseball prospect Roman Anthony’s debut game.

Devers, 28, was upset that the Red Sox wanted to move him from third base to designated hitter and then to first base.

In 73 games, Devers has 15 home runs with 58 RBI while slashing .272/.401/.504. He cooled off after a terrific May.

Hicks, 28, is currently on the 15-day injured list with right great toe inflammation. In 13 appearances (nine starts), Hicks is 1-5 with a 6.47 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP.

Bello, 20, is a right-handed pitching prospect in Rookie-A. He is 1-0 with a 2.00 ERA with a 0.72 WHIP in eight appearances this season.
