It’s been a busy last few days for general manager Craig Conroy and the Calgary Flames.
Over the weekend, they extended RFA forward Connor Zary, and on Tuesday, they locked in an even more important part of their future.
The Flames announced this morning the news that they had signed star goaltender Dustin Wolf to a massive seven-year, $52.5 million contract extension, keeping him in Calgary through 2032-33.

The 24-year-old was set to be an RFA next summer and is entering the final season of his two-year, $1.7 million contract signed with the Flames in 2024. His next deal will kick in to start the 2026-27 campaign.
Wolf is coming off a spectacular rookie season, where he was the runner-up for the Calder Trophy thanks to his 29-16-8 record to go with a 2.64 goals-against average, a .910 save percentage, and three shutouts. He projects to be the Flames’ workhorse number one netminder moving forward.
Wolf always wanted to be in Calgary
There was never any question of whether Dustin Wolf wanted to sign a long-term deal to remain a Calgary Flame. All that had to be decided was the term and dollars on a new contract.
Wolf made an appearance on the recent episode of “32 Thoughts: The Podcast” and had only good things to say about the team and city that took a chance on him back in 2019.
“Yeah, I think it’s a great city. The fans are great. I was very thankful for them to take a swing. I didn’t plan on sitting for that long. I’m glad Calgary took a swing. I love the city. I love everything about it,” Wolf said.
“There’s talks, but nothing really confirmed yet. I’d love to stay here, and I think they want me to stay here as well. So as soon as something comes to fruition where both of us like where we’re at, I’m sure it won’t be long after that point where pen will be to paper,” Wolf added.
We now know that those talks have resulted in an agreement, as Wolf will be one of the faces of the franchise for years to come in Calgary.
