For the Atlanta Braves, starting pitching is a constant no matter who joins the rotation.
Atlanta has seen a lot of injuries and turnover over the past few seasons, but they always seem to have at least one ace, if not two. From Max Fried to Spencer Strider to Chris Sale to Spencer Schwellenbach, it’s a strong recent lineage.
Strider and Schwellenbach were the two Braves draftees of the group, and both came from the college ranks. Will Atlanta dip into that talent pool again with their first-round pick in 2025?
Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter seems to think so.
On Tuesday, Reuter predicted that Atlanta would select right-handed pitcher Tyler Bremner of UC Santa Barbara with the 22nd overall pick in the Major League Baseball Draft, which begins on Jul. 13 right in the Braves’ backyard at The Battery in Atlanta.
“Bremner was the consensus No. 2 college pitcher in the 2025 class at the start of the spring, behind only Florida State left-hander Jamie Arnold, but an inconsistent start to his junior campaign knocked him out of the top-tier of arms,” Reuter wrote.

“He righted the ship down the stretch, striking out at least 10 batters in six of his final seven starts to finish with a 3.49 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 77.1 innings. The Braves have taken a pitcher with 11 of their 14 first-round picks over the past decade, and there’s a good chance he will be the best arm on the board when they are on the clock.”
Bremner, 21, features a fastball in the mid-to-upper 90s and a devastating change-up. The Braves might be able to help him refine his slider, a Sale and Strider specialty, and get him to the big leagues relatively quickly.
It’s only one mock draft, but the fit feels awfully natural for Bremner at Truist Park.
