The Toronto Blue Jays are one of the most interesting teams in Major League Baseball, and what they do over the next few months could determine the organization’s success in the following year.
On paper, the Blue Jays have enough talent to compete with many teams in the American League. However, playing in the loaded American League East, realistically, any of the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, or Blue Jays could win the division.
That’s what makes things difficult, but intriguing heading into the bulk of the campaign.
If the Blue Jays continue to play the way they have and only sit two games behind the Yankees for first place in the division heading into the deadline, the expectation is for them to make some moves.
A contending team can always use some pitching, and there could be a few arms available.
Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report named Tyler Anderson of the Los Angeles Angels a potential trade candidate, and he makes sense for the Blue Jays.

“However, it’s still looking quite likely that the Halos will miss the postseason for an 11th consecutive year.
“Should they accept that fate two months in advance and embrace a fire sale, Tyler Anderson just might land at the top of the list of rental pitchers on this year’s block,” he wrote.
Anderson, who likely won’t require a team to send a massive prospect haul out due to being a rental, has thrown the baseball at an above-average level over the past year and a half.
After finishing with a 3.81 ERA in 179 1/3 innings a year ago, and currently owning a 2.08 ERA, he’d be someone the Blue Jays should consider if they want to compete with the top squads in the division.
