“I’m back.” — Michael Jordan
Cue that music for Toronto Blue Jays superstar George Springer.
When the Blue Jays come to bat in the bottom of the first in World Series Game 6 on Friday night at the Rogers Centre, Springer will be the first player to walk to the plate. He’ll surely get a massive ovation from the home fans in Toronto.
After missing two games due to injury, he’s back.
Springer was hurt during the 18-inning marathon loss in Game 3. He fouled a pitch off and was clearly bothered by something on his swing.

The Blue Jays pulled Springer from the game with what they called a right-side injury. They didn’t term it specifically an oblique injury at any point.
Springer sat out Game 4, which the Blue Jays won.
Then he sat out Game 5, which the Blue Jays also won.
Bo Bichette was the DH in both of those games but will return to the field at second base for Game 6.
Toronto leads 3-2, and now it gets one of the best postseason sluggers of all time back atop its order.
Springer is the reason they’re here in the first place, having delivered the epic go-ahead home run in Game 7 of the ALCS that gave Toronto a one-run lead that it held to eliminate the Mariners.
And now he has a chance to be the reason they finish things off. There’s no telling if he’s 100%, but he’s playing, and that’s good enough for the Blue Jays.
