Blue Jays could have a league-altering fire sale at trade deadline

The Toronto Blue Jays are currently 33-29 and sit five-and-a-half games behind the New York Yankees for first place in the American League East.

Toronto is currently tied with the Tampa Bay Rays for the third AL wild card spot entering a three-game series with the Minnesota Twins.

While the Blue Jays are in the mix for playoff contention, there are still plenty of games remaining and over a month to go before the trade deadline on July 31.

If Toronto ends up selling at the deadline, the club has a lot of talent that could be traded away.

Bleacher Report released an article about teams that could have fire sales that would shake up the league.

The Blue Jays are No. 6 on the list.

Toronto has six impending free agents: Chris Bassitt, Bo Bichette, Max Scherzer, Chad Green, Erik Swanson and Jose Urena.

The Blue Jays will probably do everything they can to extend Bichette long-term, but the other names on the list will garner interest on the market.

Additionally, Toronto has players who are under contract or arbitration-eligible for next season that could generate plenty of interest as well.

Kevin Gausman, George Springer, Daulton Varsho, Yimi Garcia and Eric Lauer could be on the move if the Blue Jays stumble out of the postseason race.

Toronto has won eight of its last 10 games and are getting hot at the perfect time, so only time will tell if the team becomes sellers at the end of next month.
