Blockbuster trade proposal sends Pelicans’ Zion Williamson to Warriors in wild swap

The Golden State Warriors’ recent 123-117 defeat at the hands of the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night did plenty to remind the team that they must trade for another star to pair with Stephen Curry prior to the Feb. 6 trade deadline.

Golden State blew a 17-point first-half lead after the Kings decided to relentlessly double-team Curry for the entirety of the last two frames, though he still finished with an efficient 14 points and 12 assists.

It has become clear that the franchise’s general manager Mike Dunleavy needs to make a move, and a newly proposed deal could help to inspire Golden State’s front office to negotiate a massive transaction to receive Zion Williamson from the New Orleans Pelicans.

“Does anybody want to do this?” asked 95.7 The Game’s Willard & Dibs radio show host Mark Willard on Thursday night.

“Andrew Wiggins, the (2025) first-round pick, Kyle Anderson, Lindy Waters (III) for Zion?”

Though it was immediately met with negativity by the show’s co-host Dan Dibley, a move to land Williamson could improve the roster if he maintains good health.

At 24 years old, Williamson is already a two-time All-Star and proven scoring threat who averaged 27.0 points while shooting 61.1% from the field in 2020-21, leading to his first All-Star appearance.

In 2024-25, Williamson has only appeared in 10 games but has provided impressive statistical contributions with 21.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.2 blocks.

Giving up Wiggins in this trade along with a highly-valued 2025 first-round draft selection would be tough, but Williamson would certainly be worth the proposed package including Anderson and Waters III if he can consistently take the floor for Golden State.
