Blackhawks top 2025 draft pick could play in NHL next season

The Chicago Blackhawks number 3 overall pick in the 2025 NHL draft could potentially push for a roster spot as soon as next season per Hawks insider Scott Powers.

This would be a massive X factor for a 25-26 Blackhawks team that is looking like it will be quite a young squad. The Hawks have been a quiet team in free agency during the offseason, with the mindset of letting their future core pieces of the prospect pool take up the bulk of the lineup. Anton Frondell could be a part of this sqaud next year.

The 18 year old Swedish native was the top European draft pick from this past draft. The center recorded 11 goals and 14 assists in 29 games for his Djurgardens squad last season in an injury shortened season. During the teams championship playoff run, he registered 3 goals and 4 assists in 16 games.

Frondell is one of the most exciting prospects from this latest draft class, having put up the best draft year stats in the Swedish pro league since NHL stars David Pastrnak and William Nylander. He has received comps to greats in the game such as Florida’s Sacha Barkov.

Whether he plays center or wing, Anton will be another option to pair on the Hawks young offensive rotation that includes the likes of Connor Bedard and Frank Nazar. The Blackhawks are hoping Frondell can be the ideal future linemate for Bedard as the club looks to get more competitive moving forward.
