Tyrell Shavers showed out in the preseason and made the Buffalo Bills’ season-opening roster.
To celebrate, he changed his jersey number.
It’s one that’s very familiar to the Bills’ recent receiving corps: No. 14.
Shavers was 80 in the preseason, but now he dons that 14.
It was previously worn by both Sammy Watkins and Stefon Diggs.
Shavers made a sick one-handed catch in the final preseason game to help land his spot on the roster.

He spent his college career at three stops: Alabama, Mississippi State and San Diego State.
A season ago, he caught one pass for the Bills. It was a 69-yard touchdown.
The Bills may not need Shavers for a heavy snap load in the early going, but they clearly decided he was too talented to expose to waivers.
In the process, Shavers has given Bills fans an opportunity to change some things up on a jersey they already own.

There are likely many Watkins and Diggs jerseys floating out there. With a little bit of tape and a sharpie, Shavers can replace those names on the back.
It’d be trendy and different to be walking around with a makeshift Shavers jersey, but why not? He’s a cool story, and if he sticks around for a while, his number choice will age nicely.
