Bills predicted to trade for Bengals $21 million superstar defender in blockbuster move

The Buffalo Bills will need their pass rush to step up in 2025. The unit was in the bottom half of the league in sacks last year, and that isn’t going to cut it in a loaded AFC with a bunch of dynamic offenses.

The Bills added Joey Bosa this offseason to pair with Greg Rousseau, but the veteran suffered a calf injury during OTAs and will be out until training camp. Nevertheless, Buffalo has to bolster their edge rusher room ahead of the season if they want any chance of getting over the hump and reaching the Super Bowl.

The top pass rusher who could be on the market is Trey Hendrickson, who hasn’t received a new contract from the Cincinnati Bengals and is growing frustrated with the franchise. Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay proposes a trade that would send Hendrickson to the Bills for a 2026 second-round pick.

If Cincy is willing to come down on a lofty asking price, the Bills shouldn’t hesitate to send over a Round 2 pick to add one of the best sack creators of the past half-decade and bolster their Super Bowl aspirations.

Hendrickson has been seeking a long-term deal from the Bengals since last offseason but has yet to receive a fair offer and has called out Cincinnati for their lack of communication multiple times this offseason.

With Hendrickson skipping mandatory minicamp, it’s clear that he is incredibly unhappy with his contract situation. A trade may be the only option left on the table with negotiations in a terrible spot.

The Bills would be a dream landing spot for Hendrickson, as the 30-year-old would take Sean McDermott’s defense to the next level and could be the missing piece that elevates Buffalo into title favorites. The four-time All-Pro has posted 17.5 sacks in each of the last two seasons and was a first-team All-Pro selection in 2024.

Acquiring Hendrickson and signing him to an extension will be tricky for the Bills, especially with their cap situation. However, general manager Brandon Beane should try to pull off the deal and add a dominant pass rusher to the defense for a hopeful Super Bowl run in 2025.
