Bills have chance to trade for best defensive tackle in NFL after latest report

The Buffalo Bills had a rough defensive outing to begin their season, giving up 40 points to the Baltimore Ravens and over 230 yards on the ground. In Week 2, however, the Bills rebounded in a big way.

Buffalo held the New York Jets to less than 200 yards of offense and defeated New York 30-10, the only Jets’ touchdown coming in garbage time when backups were in the game. And while the Bills’ defense had a very nice bounce back game, specifically Joey Bosa who had seven pressures and two forced fumbles, the Bills have an opportunity to get even better on defense if the New York Giants are willing to play ball.

Per a recent report from Jordan Raanan, Giants defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence is growing frustrated with the organization. The Giants are 0-2, and have had just one playoff appearance since Lawrence was drafted in 2019. For a star player, you can understand where the frustration would come from.

Considering the connective tissue between the Giants and Bills, as New York general manager Joe Schoen came from Buffalo as Brandon Beane’s assistant, a phone call should be made at the very least. Lawrence carries a cap hit of over $23 million in 2025, so some cap gymnastics would need done. That said, they can be done, and Buffalo would have a true game-changer in the middle of their defense. Not only is he a terrific run defender, but he is the best interior pass rusher in the NFL. Lawrence had 36 pressures and 10 sacks in 2024, per PFF. In 2023, he had an astounding 65 pressures. That is the kind of player that takes you from contender to an over the top overpowered team.
