Bill Belichick has caught negative attention after an awkward interview moment with his girlfriend Jordon Hudson — and his family isn’t too happy about it either.
The University of North Carolina coach sat down with CBS Sunday Mornings to discuss his book “The Art of Winning.” Belichick was asked at one point about the controversy that surrounds his relationship with the 24-year-old.
“I’ve never been too worried about what everybody else thinks,” the coach answered. “Just try to do what I feel like is best for me and what’s right.” The interviewer followed up by asking how he met his girlfriend, to which Hudson interjected saying, “Not talking about this.”
The moment quickly went viral on social media, as users flocked to question her comment — and they weren’t the only ones concerned.
Belichick’s daughter-in-law reportedly jumped in the mix to share her opinion on the viral clip. The Dudes on Dudes podcast shared a clip of the hosts discussing the video on Instagram. Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski claimed on April 30 that Hudson was merely “working with Coach Belichick in the professional world.”
Comedian Nikki Glaser supported the athletes’ stance and commented under the video from the show saying, “100% this. She’s acting as his publicist. Publicists do this during interviews. People are out for blood.”
However, Jennifer Schmitt, who is married to Belichick’s son Stephen, didn’t agree with this take. In response to Glaser’s comment, his daughter-in-law shared, “Publicists act in a professional manner and don’t ‘storm’ off set delaying an interview.”
Fans of the former NFL coach are speculating that his family isn’t one-hundred percent onboard with their age-gap-relationship — based on her comments — however, this has yet to be confirmed.
