Bengals predicted to land Chiefs $5 million 15-game starting tackle to protect Joe Burrow

The Cincinnati Bengals could use some more depth on the offensive line, primarily at offensive tackle. The team is planning to move forward with Orlando Brown Jr. and Amarius Mims as the starters at the position, but the depth behind them is lackluster and unproven.

Cincinnati could search the free agency market to add another depth piece to the unit, but Last Word on Sports’ David Latham lists the Bengals as the top landing spot for Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle Wanya Morris in a trade.

“The Cincinnati Bengals have the league’s best wide receiver duo in Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, but somebody must keep Joe Burrow upright long enough to connect with those two. Wanya Morris is no sure thing himself, but seeing as he shouldn’t cost more than a late-round pick in a trade, Cincinnati might as well bring him in and see what he can do,” Latham wrote.

Morris started 11 games for Kansas City in 2024, allowing five sacks and 35 quarterback pressures in 676 snaps at left tackle and 52 snaps at right tackle. The 24-year-old struggled in pass protection at times last year and was also prone to penalties, which caused him to get benched in late November.

Though he is a low-end starter, Morris would be a fantastic backup on Cincinnati’s offensive line. The 2023 third-round pick has starting experience and is also still young and developing, so he’ll continue to grow as a player and could possibly turn into the eventual replacement for Brown Jr., who is set to hit free agency in 2027.

Additionally, Morris is on a cheap contract, and a Day 3 pick should be enough to get a deal done with the Chiefs. The Bengals should look to trade for the former Tennessee standout if he’s available and bolster their depth at tackle to help out Joe Burrow.
