Bears predicted to replace D’Andre Swift with 1,510-yard RB in 2026

The Chicago Bears entered the NFL Draft to help out young quarterback Caleb Williams. With their first-round pick, Chicago selected Michigan tight end Colston Loveland.

Chicago was rumored to draft Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, but the star running back went No. 6 to the Las Vegas Raiders, four selections ahead of the Bears.

The Bears didn’t address running back until pick 233 when they took Rutgers running back Kyle Monangai.

Chicago will now have to wait a season before adding a young star running back, and ESPN’s Jordan Reid predicts the team will draft Notre Dame’s running back Jeremiyah Love in 2026.

“The Bears didn’t address running back until the seventh round last week (Kyle Monangai), so they could be seeking D’Andre Swift’s successor in 2026,” Reid wrote. “Their 4.0 yards per rush tied for third worst in the NFL last season. Love was electric for the Irish in 2024, averaging 6.9 yards per carry (10th best in the FBS) en route to 1,125 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns. He also had 237 receiving yards. He’s an explosive strider, and his body control allows him to fit his 6-foot, 206-pound frame through coin-slot-sized running lanes.”

Love has appeared in 29 games for Notre Dame over the last two years, rushing for 1,510 yards and 18 scores.

The Fighting Irish running back will have one more season to prove he is a first-round pick, and he could be a homerun pick for a Bears offense that will need to look for cheap running back help next offseason.
