The Chicago Bears have spent this offseason improving one of their biggest issues from last season, their offensive line.
The Bears arguably had one of the worst offensive lines in the entire National Football League last season, right up there with the New England Patriots. Chicago’s franchise quarterback, Caleb Williams, took a league-high 68 sacks, and the team had one of the worst rushing offenses in the league.
Many have speculated that the Bears should move on from Pro Bowl running back D’Andre Swift, and possibly trade for the New York Jets’ Breece Hall, but The Chicago Tribune’s Brad Briggs got real about the potential of that trade.
“I don’t see how moving Hall after the draft makes sense for the New York Jets or makes them better. Had they chosen a running back high in the draft, maybe something could have materialized, but they didn’t. They chose right tackle Armand Membou at No. 7 and are looking to have a sturdy running game featuring Hall and quarterback Justin Fields.”
“Hall has been good for the Jets but has yet to have a 1,000-yard season in three years. I’m skeptical they would make him available at this point, and with Hall entering the final year of his contract, the Jets would be selling him for pennies on the dollar if they did.”

Swift is only one year removed from a 1,000-yard rushing season with the Philadelphia Eagles, and nearly cleared 1,000 rushing yards for the Bears last season. Hall has never cleared that mark himself, and although he is talented, is likely not going to be dealt by the Jets.
Chicago’s offensive line was known to be one of the worst in the league. After acquiring Joe Thuney, Jonah Jackson and Drew Dalman, the Bears’ line should be far better this season. Swift is only 26 and is a Pro Bowler who will likely have a better season after Chicago’s improvements.
