Bears free agent idea lands 8-time Pro Bowler to boost the defense

The Chicago Bears have made several significant roster upgrades, with the most notable being the hiring of their new head coach.

Chicago hired Ben Johnson to lead the team, and with Johnson coming over from the offensive side, the offense should take a leap this season.

While the Bears are trying to get their offense to get back on track, their defense could still use some help.

There aren’t many big-time free agents available for Chicago to sign, but Matthew Schmidt from the Chicago Bears On SI thinks the team should try to sign pass rusher Von Miller.

“What about Von Miller? Miller remains available in spite of his Hall-of-Fame pedigree, and while he obviously is not the same dominant force he once was, he did still manage to register six sacks with the Buffalo Bills in 2024,” Schmidt wrote. “At this point, the 36-year-old is a specialist who should only play on pass-rushing downs. That much is understood. But that’s really all Chicago needs to provide Sweat and Odeyingbo with some help.”

Miller, an eight-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl champion, would be a nice fit for the Bears.

Chicago needs to add a veteran pass rusher, and there’s no better player than Miller on the open market.

If the Bears do sign Miller, he could take the defense to another level this season, which means Chicago could be playing a postseason game this upcoming winter.
