Bayern Munich step up shock interest in Brazilian striker

Bayern Munich desperately need new signings, and the German giants are working in the background to bring reinforcements to Bavaria. They have lost a few players in attack and need some signings to push for European glory in the upcoming season.

The Bavarians have confirmed the departure of Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane. The duo will permanently move on from Bayern following the Club World Cup. At the same time, Mathys Tel has permanently joined Tottenham following his loan stint with the Premier League outfit.

Therefore, Bayern Munich require major attacking signings. They need a high-profile left-winger along with a backup striker to ease the pressure on Harry Kane. A couple of months ago, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that there is a big possibility of Bayern Munich signing a backup for Kane this summer.

According to recent reports via Brazilian outlet O Tempo suggest that the German champions have accelerated their interest in Cruzeiro striker Kaio Jorge. The 23-year-old has established himself as a top marksman at Cruzeiro, contributing to 10 goals in 11 league matches.

As per reports, Bayern have sent representatives to Belo Horizonte to meet with Jorge’s agent. The German outfit have initiated talks with the player, but they are yet to put up an official bid for the talented Brazilian forward.

Who is Cruzeiro forward Kaio Jorge?

Jorge initiated his football career at Santos, and in 2019, he signed his first professional contract and became a first-team player at Santos. He featured in 84 games for the Brazilian outfit and scored 17 goals.

He moved to Juventus in 2021 after he agreed to move to Italy by signing a pre-contract deal in the January transfer window.

His Juventus tenure was marred by injuries and underwhelming performances. So much so that he was featuring for Juve’s U-23 team. He was loaned out to Frosinone in 2023, where he scored three goals in 14 games.

Jorge returned to Brazil and joined Cruzeiro in June 2024 and signed a five-year contract. Therefore, his current contract runs until 2029, and Cruzeiro are reportedly demanding a €25 million transfer fee for the 23-year-old striker. Apart from Bayern Munich, their Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen are also interested in the Brazilian.

Jorge is known for his hold-up play and ball-carrying capabilities. He is a mobile striker who can create chances for himself and is probably in the best shape of his career in terms of consistency. He could be an ideal player to relieve the goal-scoring burden off Harry Kane.
