Bayern Munich showcased a statement of intent in their 6-0 drubbing of RB Leipzig in Bundesliga 2025/26 curtain raiser on Friday at the Allianz Arena.
Harry Kane grabbed the headlines with a splendid second half hattrick while Michael Olise scored a brace with Luis Diaz also getting into the scoresheet on his Bundesliga debut.
This was Kane’s eighth Bundesliga hattrick and he scored all three goals in the second half within a space of 13 minutes.
Moreover, the 32-year-old has netted 65 goals in 64 Bundesliga games since making the move to Bavaria from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.
According to Sky Sports, Kane has scored more goals in top five European leagues than any other player since his switch to Bayern Munich.
Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe is closest to the Englishman’s tally with 59 goals followed by Man City’s Erling Haaland 51 goals. Liverpool stalwart Mohamed Salah is fifth with 48 goals in this period.

Interestingly, this was a perfect hattrick in German football as Kane scored all three goals one after another and in a single half.
What did Harry Kane say about Bayern Munich’s dominant win over Leipzig?
In these couple of seasons, Kane has become a fan favourite at Allianz Arena, not only for his goals and assists but also for his commitment and demeanor off the field.

The 32-year-old was ecstatic with the win, as he said, “We wanted to send a statement from the first game at home and that’s what we did today. We performed at a very high level and were efficient. We won 6-0 so we can’t complain. After half time we were 3-0 up, I said to myself that I need to get on the score sheet.”
The Englishman spoke about Bayern Munich struggles in the transfer window as he called out the thin squad depth following their win against Stuttgart in the DFL Supercup.
He reiterated the same statement after their victory against Leipzig, “We got a thin squad. There’s 8 or 9 days left in the window, we’ll see. It’s out of our control,” Kane told the media while speaking about many other aspects of his game.
Bayern Munich will face Wiesbaden on Wednesday, August 27 in a DFB Pokal fixture followed by Bundesliga action on August 30 in an away trip to Augsburg.
