Bayern Munich star drops huge preseason injury update

Bayern Munich have endured a stuttering summer transfer window – despite the recent move to sign Luis Diaz – after missing out on several of their previous priorities.

The Bundesliga champions reclaimed their league title last season, but they suffered with a host of injuries to key players, which derailed their UEFA Champions League campaign.

However, ahead of the 2025/26 campaign Vincent Kompany has received a major boost with Alphonso Davies sharing a positive injury update on his personal Twitch handle.

Kompany desperately missed the Canada international last season particularly in the business end of the campaign.

It’s crucial for Bayern Munich that Davies returns to full fitness and regains top form in the upcoming months.

“I’m happy. My knee is getting better, my muscles are coming back. I’m happy with everything that’s going on right now with injury. I’m happy to be back on the pitch soon. There’s still a little bit to go, but for me it’s soon, considering where I was before,” Davies stated on his Twitch channel.

According to BILD, the 24-year-old left-back has resumed training for the first time since his ACL surgery.

What happened to Alphonso Davies?

Davies joined Bayern Munich from Vancouver Whitecaps in 2018, and hasn’t looked back since.

The Canadian soon became a fan favourite in Bavaria and played a crucial part in their 2019/20 treble winning campaign.

He’s been a vital star at the Allianz Arena, under different coaches, and he opted to sign a new contract in February 2024.

However, just a month after that, he suffered a severe knee injury on international duty which kept him out for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.

That triggered a wave of controversy as Bayern Munich blamed the Canada national team for not being careful enough with their star player.

Head coach Jesse Marsch dismissed the allegation and stated it was just bad luck.

Despite being only 24, Davies has racked up 226  club appearances already across seven seasons in Germany, with 14 goals scored.
