Bayern Munich identify PSG star as primary target to fill left-wing void

It will be a long transfer window for Bayern Munich as they hunt for a high-profile winger. With Florian Wirtz close to joining Liverpool, Bayern need someone who can complement the likes of Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala on the left flank.

Therefore, as per reports from Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Bayern have identified Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola as their primary target for the left wing.

As per Plettenberg’s report, the Bavarians are still in the exploratory stage, and they understand that it is a difficult transfer to realise, but if it proves to be impossible, they will look at other alternatives.

Bayern Munich’s alternatives for Barcola include the likes of Athletic Club’s Nico Williams, AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo. Reports suggest that Williams has reduced his wage demands, and Bayern are currently having positive talks with the Spaniard’s entourage.

Barcola is an ideal player for Bayern to play on the left flank. They already have two players in Olise and Musiala who like to be on the ball. The 22-year-old is someone who will bring volume shot creation and goal contributions.

With Leroy Sane also closing in on an exit from Bavaria, Bayern desperately need a high-profile name on the left flank, and Barcola could be their man this summer. However, it won’t be easy as PSG manager Luis Enrique is a big admirer of the French international.

What did Luis Enrique say about Barcola?

Barcola played a big role in helping PSG clinch the treble last season. The young winger racked up 21 goals and 19 assists in 58 games across all competitions for the Parisians.

Enrique is a big admirer of Barcola and rates him very highly. In an interaction with RMC Sport in May, the Spaniard was full of praise for the 22-year-old. “Bradley Barcola has been involved in 35 goal attempts, he’s the best passer in the league, one of the best dribblers in Europe. He is and will be extremely important,” Enrique opined.

There are already reports emerging that PSG are keen on holding on to the Frenchman and may soon offer him a contract extension to fend off Bayern’s interest.

However, in January, there were reports via L’Equipe suggesting that Barcola was surprised to see PSG going all out to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli. However, after the Georgian’s arrival, Barcola has also stepped up his game, helping PSG win the European treble.
