Bayern Munich icon Thomas Muller drops major hint on his future destination

Former Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller’s illustrious journey with the German outfit has come to an end after 25 years of association.

Now, the 35-year-old is looking for a new destination this summer after playing his final game for the Bavarians in the Club World Cup quarterfinal against PSG.

According to reports, Muller is leaning towards a move to the United States, with a couple of Major League Soccer clubs interested in the German icon.

Bayern Munich also have a part to play in deciding his future as they are helping their sister club, Los Angeles FC, to prepare a package that would be good enough to land Muller.

On the other hand, some reports from Australia suggest that Sydney FC is also trying their best to bring Muller to the A-League, which could be a groundbreaking move for Australian football.

Meanwhile, Muller dropped a major hint about his future destination in an interaction with German outlet ZDF.

“I still have the desire to play football and have therefore decided to continue. I will continue to be a footballer. I love the football stage and the pressure to perform. As long as my body can handle it, I want to take advantage of the opportunity. Even though I’ll no longer be in Europe or playing for the Champions League – I’m starting to get excited. I’m aware that when you leave FC Bayern, the conditions are different, but I’m looking forward to that too,” Muller told ZDF.

“Of course I’ve been thinking about these topics and thinking outside the box. The MLS is certainly an interesting league – especially with the World Cup in America next year”

Where could Thomas Muller end up this summer?

Muller played more of a squad role in Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich last season and finished with six goals and provided six assists in 44 matches across competitions.

So there’s football left in the 35-year-old, and he wants to continue playing the sport for a few more years before hanging up his boots.

As per reports, MLS is the likely destination for Muller, but Sydney FC are also in the reckoning as they keep pushing for the German forward.

An announcement is due for Muller, who is expected to finalise his destination in the next 10 days.

It will be hard for football fans to watch Muller represent another team other than Bayern Munich, where he managed to win 13 Bundesliga titles, two Champions League crowns, and six DFB Pokal titles.
