Bayern Munich eye Arsenal star over potential transfer

With the new season approaching, Bayern Munich are looking to further strengthen their squad in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Bayern have acquired the signatures of Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen and Tom Bischof from TSG Hoffenheim, both on free transfer, in the summer so far.

The Bundesliga champions have been linked to several names as potential signings; however, most of those did not materialise.

Bayern were turned down by Florian Wirtz and Nico Williams, and now, a move for VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Wolte also appears to be difficult. The German club have also reportedly presented an offer for Liverpool’s Luis Diaz, but were rejected by the Premier League giants.

Bayern are interested in bolstering their left wing ahead of the upcoming campaign, especially after the departure of Leroy Sane last month, which left Kingsley Coman to be the only fit option in that position in Vincent Kompany’s squad.

And now, Bayern are considering Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli as their transfer prospect, according to The Athletic.

Will Arsenal be open to Gabriel Martinelli’s move to Bayern Munich?

Martinelli arrived at the Emirates from Brazilian club Ituano in 2019 and has been a regular name in Mikel Arteta’s squad.

The aforementioned report suggested that while Arteta values Martinelli as a part of his squad, Arsenal might consider a sale for the 24-year-old to facilitate the signings of the Gunners’ remaining transfer targets for the summer.

Martinelli, whose current contract at Arsenal is valid until the summer of 2027, has made a total of 225 appearances while registering 51 goals and 29 assists in his ongoing six-year tenure at the Gunners.
