Bayern Munich are all set to undergo changes in their roster despite reclaiming the Bundesliga title under Vincent Kompany. The Belgian tactician is keen to take the Bavarians back to the level where they can contend for the top European competitions.
The German giants had major issues with the backline as they conceded too many goals courtesy of a plethora of individual errors. While there were issues with the entire backline, there were instances where Kim Min-jae singled out for his errors.
Overall, the South Korean defender, who was signed from Napoli with big expectations has failed to live up to it during his time at Bayern Munich. Therefore, the club are open to offloading him this summer if a club approaches them with a correct transfer fee.
As per recent reports in La Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan are interested in Kim Min-jae considering his exploits for Napoli in the past.
Milan are going through massive changes as they have appointed Massimiliano Allegri, and the Italian tactician is focused to strengthen the backline before the start of the new season. They are desperate to return to their lost glory in the Serie A after finishing eighth in the points table.
As per reports, Kim and his agent is also enticed by the interest of Milan as he wants to return to Italy. Apart from Milan, Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Newcastle United are monitoring the situation of the South Korea in Bavaria this summer.

What is the major obstacle for AC Milan in signing Kim?
Bayern Munich triggered Kim’s release clause of €50 million to lure him away from Napoli in 2023. However, in these two seasons, the Bayern team management aren’t happy with his performances. Therefore, they are open to selling him this summer, but they are clear that they would not entertain any bid less than €30 million.
Also, Kim earns around €8-9m net per year at Bayern and even if he decides to take a pay cut, if would be a big ask for Milan to invest that much money on a defender given their financial constraints. The Rossoneri are not even in any European competition this season, so they have nothing to lure players to join them this summer.
As per reports the deal looks extremely complicated unless Bayern Munich are open to sending Kim to Milan on loan. But given that they have initiated talks with the South Korean to renew his contract means Kompany sees him as a valuable member of the team. His current contract runs until 2028.
Bayern Munich recently completed the signing of Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen in a free contract. The German international was wanted by several clubs but he chose Bayern Munich. So, this puts Kim’s situation in Bavaria under slight threat as Tah may actually be the starter in defense alongside Dayot Upamecano for the upcoming season.
