Bayern Munich close to landing Chelsea star after dramatic deadline day twist

Bayern Munich haven’t had much luck with their transfer targets in this summer transfer window as they have only made three signings whilst missing out on several targets.

However, despite the adversities, the Bavarians closed out a loan deal for Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson a couple of days ago.

The Senegalese striker landed in Munich for medical but to his surprise his parent club Chelsea recalled him to London to join the team after their star striker Liam Delap pulled up his hamstring against Fulham.

Jackson, who was not in Enzo Maresca’s plans was visibly not happy with this decision. However, he was told to return to London against his and his agent Ali Barat’s wishes.

On Monday, as per reports via Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg’s reports, the move has now resurfaced, and Jackson could now join Bayern Munich before the transfer window shuts today.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have given the green light to the Senegalese forward to join the Bavarians after they managed to recall Marc Guiu from Sunderland to act as a cover for Delap.

Jackson and his agent, who stayed in Munich despite Chelsea’s call to return to London, are putting the final touches to a dramatic deadline day deal.

Why are Bayern Munich interested in Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson?

Bayern Munich desperately need options in attack after they decided to sell Kingsley Coman to Al Nassr.

Vincent Kompany is left with only 22 players heading into a crucial season where an injury to Harry Kane could derail their entire campaign.

Therefore, the Belgian manager requested for a backup striker and Bayern identified Jackson as the perfect option in their system.

The Senegal international can also feature on the left flank due to his speed, dribbling and athleticism.

While his finishing and decision making in the final third needs a lot of improvement, Bayern will be happy to at least get a proper backup for their main man upfront.

Jackson moved to Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023 and in his two seasons at Stamford Bridge, he has netted 30 goals in 81 appearances, which is a decent return for a player moving to a new league.

The 24-year-old has talent and capability to develop into a great forward, so it remains to be seen how he fares at Bayern Munich, that is if the move materializes.
