Bayern Munich have endured a tough summer window until now. They have seen their primary targets reject a move to Bavaria. Despite this situation, Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund is willing to move with caution.
He believes Bayern need to focus on quality transfers rather than multiple incoming transfers. There have been a lot of tension around the project at Bavaria as the German champions have missed out on Florian Wirtz and now may also lose out on Nico Williams, who is close to joining Barcelona.
Amidst their struggle to sign players, they are assured to lose the services of Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller following the FIFA Club World Cup. Both are exceptional players and it is a big hit for Vincent Kompany’s men.
However, Freund wants the fans to remain patient and believe in the current roster. Although he is not ruling out transfers, he wants to move for the right player.
“We’re not commenting on rumors right now. It’s transfer season, and there are always a lot of rumors and speculation. But we want to move forward with our plans,” Freund told DAZN when asked about Williams following Bayern’s win over Boca Juniors.
“I think we have a very, very good team. We have a lot of quality in the squad. If you look at Michael Olise, for example, he wasn’t necessarily a big name signing last summer. Now he’s reached the very top. So, it has to be right for us. There are a few possibilities,” he clarified when asked if Bayern would sign a big player this summer.

Who could Bayern Munich land this summer?
Bayern Munich’s primary requirement this summer is a left-winger, and they are chasing Athletic Bilbao’s Williams at the moment, who is inclined to join Barcelona.
However, some reports have suggested that Bayern are keeping a close eye on the player and whether Barcelona manage to afford his release clause and register him.
If the German champions see any opportunity, they may push for the Spain international, but given the youngster’s interest in joining Barcelona, it is a very improbable option.
Bayern had earlier identified PSG’s Bradley Barcola as the ideal player to replace Sane on the left, and there were murmurs of him being unhappy with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s arrival in Paris, but the youngster shares a good relationship with Luis Enrique and is keen to continue at PSG.
They are also looking at AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, and recently, Liverpool duo of Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz have also entered Bayern’s shortlist. The likes of Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens and Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli are also options that they are willing to consider.
