Bayern Munich chief confident transfer exit will not impact Harry Kane

Bayern Munich are still in party mood after reclaiming the Bundesliga crown in early May as 2024 champions Bayer Leverkusen finally slipped away in the title race.

It marked the club’s first trophy under Vincent Kompany and also broke the ‘trophy curse’ as Harry Kane with his  first major title.

It was a momentous occasion for the 31-year-old, after years of missing out on silverware for club and country with Tottenham and England.

Kane was delighted to end his long wait for glory, as he joined the long list of  players winning trophies after leaving Tottenham, and line of his former Spurs’ teammates reached out with congratulations.

Amid the celebrations, the transfer rumour mill continues to spin out links over Kane heading back to the Premier League, and even a possible Spurs return.

According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Kane may consider a move back to England after another season in Munich. But, England’s captain wants to defend his Bundesliga title and have another crack at the UEFA Champions League with Bayern before considering an exit.

Kane’s contract at the Allianz Arena does include a release clause  which reduces to £54m [$72m] in 2026 and that would place him on the radar of several EPL teams.

Alongside the exit clause, another issue which has sparked fresh exit rumours is news of his close friend and teammate Eric Dier leaving Bavaria at the end of the season.

The England international declined a contract renewal from the Bavarians and opts for a new challenge at Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco.

Many feel Dier was signed by Bayern to help Kane get accustomed to the team and feel at home in a new city. But now, with the defender’s departure confirmed, speculation over Kane being unsettled has reignited.

Bayern chief answers Kane exit question

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund was unfazed over the rumours on Kane’s future as he believes the striker is happy to continue in Munich.

He also highlighted Dier’s departure will not have any impact on Kane, as he feels that the No.9 has fully adapted to life in Germany.

“That’s not an issue. Harry is very well respected in the team. He gets along well with everyone. He’s in the prime of his life and has acclimatised superbly in Munich. Even the departure of his friend Eric Dier in the summer does not directly affect Harry,” Freund told Abendzeitung.

The England striker joined Bayern in 2023 for a whopping €100m [$114m] and, since then, has netted 80 goals in 89 appearances for the German outfit.

Kane also offered a short answer to the exit rumours by stating he’s happy at Bayern Munich and wishes to stay.

“What I can say is that I am very happy at Bayern. No comment on the clause.”
