Ansu Fati is preparing for a fresh start. After a tough few seasons at Barcelona, the winger is reportedly closing in on a move to AS Monaco.
It’s not quite a done deal, but it’s close — and the player is ready to pack his bags.
Once tipped as the next big star from La Masia, Fati’s journey with Barcelona has hit too many roadblocks. Injuries, form, and limited chances have seen him slide down the pecking order.
Now, at 22, he’s hoping a switch to Ligue 1 can bring his career back to life.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Monaco are in advanced talks to take Fati on loan, with an option to buy later. As per the same reports, Barcelona would also keep a sell-on clause in case Monaco cash in down the line.
“Agreement almost done,” Romano revealed. “Ansu keen on the move, talks ongoing between clubs.”

Why Ansu Fati wants to leave Barcelona?
According to reports, Fati has agreed in principle to the transfer and is eager for more game time. The fee could be under €20 million, but Barça are pushing to include a sell-on clause in the final terms.

Last season, Fati spent time on loan at Brighton. That didn’t quite go to plan either. He returned to Barcelona hoping to impress new coach Hansi Flick, but played just 11 times all season — and often stayed on the bench.
Frustrations boiled over when he was left out again during a dramatic 4-3 win over Celta Vigo. Cameras caught him tossing his bib and kicking a water cooler. A clear sign of a player who had reached his limit.
Fati’s injury back in 2020 — a torn knee meniscus — halted his rapid rise. Since then, minutes have been hard to find. He’s also been out of the Spain squad since 2023, missing the Euro 2024 party.
A move to Monaco could be just what he needs. New country, new league, and most importantly, a new chance. If Fati can find his feet again, it might just be the comeback story his fans have been waiting for.
