The Champions League dream is over for Barcelona, and one name is taking the heat — Ronald Araujo.
The center-back came off the bench during the semi-final second leg against Inter Milan and was involved in both of the goals that knocked his team out.
As emotions boiled over, many fans were quick to point fingers and demand his exit.
The match in Milan had everything — goals, drama, extra time, and heartbreak. After a 3-3 thriller in the first leg, the second leg ended 4-3 in Inter’s favor, sending the Italian side through 7-6 on aggregate.
But while some players earned praise, Araujo’s late appearance has drawn sharp criticism online.
The Uruguayan defender replaced Inigo Martinez in the 76th minute. He was left beaten by veteran Francesco Acerbi for Inter’s third goal and couldn’t stop Davide Frattesi’s winner in extra time.

Ronald Araujo responds after costly mistakes vs. Inter
Speaking to RAC1 after the game, Araujo didn’t hide. He owned up to his role in the defeat. “On the fourth goal, I was in front and it was the striker’s luck to place it perfectly in the corner,” he said.
When asked about the earlier equalizer, he added: “As for the third goal, I’m obviously very good at one-on-ones and I should have been better.”
He admitted the mistakes but tried to stay positive. “But hey, it’s football, you have to keep your head up and keep moving forward.”
That hasn’t stopped fans from voicing their frustration. One post on X read, “Sell Araujo. How many times have I said this. Sell him. Sell him. Sell him.”
Others joined in, calling for him to be sent to Juventus or stripped of the captain’s armband.
It’s a tough tackle for Araujo, whose time at Barca may now face serious questions. With El Clasico up next, the pressure won’t ease anytime soon.
