Fermin Lopez’s future at Barcelona has been a point of discussion throughout the summer with Chelsea exploring the possibility of a move for the 22-year-old midfielder.
The La Masia graduate, who was instrumental in last season’s Spanish treble reportedly has also weighed his options in recent days.
It was reported that initially Barcelona were understood to be open to offers in the region of €70m [$81m], a figure that seemed to leave the door slightly ajar for Chelsea to test their chances.
That scenario has now changed and according to Mundo Deportivo journalist Fernando Polo, the Catalan club have increased their valuation to €90m [$105m] and made their stance clear.
Chelsea yet to reach Barcelona’s latest figure
Chelsea, despite their interest are reportedly not currently willing to meet that amount with reports indicating the London club do not intend to spend more than €69m [$80m] on the Spain international.
That stance makes a deal unlikely in the short term although the situation could shift if Lopez pushes for a move and the English side revise their ceiling.
