Barcelona set high transfer fee for Fermin Lopez as PL clubs show interest

Fermin Lopez is heavily linked to a move to Chelsea this summer despite many FC Barcelona fans hoping the midfielder stays. Many reports suggest that the club and Lopez do not want to part ways, but if they do, Barcelona would welcome a high fee that could help the club.

Barcelona is happy with the player, and so is manager Hansi Flick. Barcelona will only consider selling the player if a huge bid arrives.

Fernando Polo from Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona has raised its asking price for Fermin Lopez, which reaches up to 90 million euros. Lopez has yet to decide if he is open to joining Chelsea, but he is considering it.

The 90 million price tag is an attractive fee for Barcelona, who continue to face La Liga financial regulation issues.

Jose Alvarez Haya reports that Newcastle United is also interested in Fermin Lopez and is willing to bid 100 million euros for the player this summer. The report also suggests that Tottenham Hotspur is interested in the player as they target an attacking midfielder.

Chelsea reportedly already submitted their first offer of 50 million plus bonuses for Fermin Lopez, but it is far from Barcelona’s demands. Chelsea remains interested in the player, and Lopez is expected to answer if he is willing to leave Barcelona.

Barcelona Vice President on Fermin Lopez

Barcelona Vice President Rafael Yuste attended the Champions League draw in Monaco, and he was asked about Fermin Lopez before and after the event.

Before arriving at the UCL draw, Yuste was asked if Fermin would stay at Barcelona. Yuste responded and said, “He is at Barca.”

After the event, Yuste was asked again about Fermin Lopez’s future at Barcelona and gave a slightly longer response, which gives fans hope that the attacking midfielder will stay.

Rafael Yuste: “Fermín has a contract here at Barça, and we are very happy with him.”
