Barcelona have been said to be done with their signings this summer due to financial issues, but it seems like they are still interested in a fullback they’ve been linked to previously.
With the links of potential departures of Marc Casado and Fermin Lopez though, Barcelona may have money to spend and could bring in late reinforcements.
If they sell one of these midfielders, they are unlikely to reinforce in that same position as they are stacked in midfield, but more likely to reinforce their weakest spot in defense.
Vanderson to Barcelona?
Vanderson is the name ESPN are reporting that Barcelona are interested in bringing as a defensive reinforcement.
The Brazilian fullback has been a player that Barcelona have had a long interest in but haven’t prioritized the player because of the price that they deem is too high.
Things have changed though as Barcelona could sell one of Casado or Fermin as previously mentioned, which would provide them extra funds that they likely weren’t expecting this summer.
With the departure of Iñigo Martinez this summer, Barcelona were left shorthanded in defense and a move for Vanderson could help move Kounde to a fulltime centre back position giving Barca the necessary depth.
Vanderson would be a more attacking option at the position with experience playing in Champions League football and being a Brazilian international.
Whether this move happens heavily depends on some sort of major departure and even then Barcelona would have to hope they could register the player as they’ve had continuous issues with registrations this summer
