Barcelona ‘hurt’ by 2026 target’s move to Manchester United

Benjamin Sesko has completed his transfer from RB Leipzig to Manchester United in a big money move that reportedly cost around 85 million euros according to ESPN.

The young striker has been seen as a player with a lot of potential and was always destined for an expensive move to a big club.

He’s had the attention of almost every big club for a few years now with Sport reporting that Barcelona had serious interest in him replacing Lewandowski in the 2026 summer transfer window.

Reportedly, the interest was serious enough to have Sesko as the number one striker option for the next summer transfer window.

Apparently Barcelona are ‘hurt’ by the Sesko transfer as they couldn’t do anything to make him stay at RB Leipzig for another year and many strikers are off the market.

Victor Gyokeres has gone to Arsenal, Hugo Ekitike has gone to Liverpool, Sesko to Manchester United, Victor Osimhen to Galatasaray, and potentially Alexander Isak going to Liverpool.

This leaves Barcelona in a tricky position for next summer as Lewandowski will be 38-years-old next season and he will be out of contract.

It will all come down to what the finances are heading into next summer and if Barcelona can afford to splash the cash on a big money striker.

There have been rumors about Julian Alvarez and previous links with Erling Haaland which both seem out of price range. With the transfer of Sesko though, they might only be left with these extremely expensive options.
