Aston Villa’s Marcus Rashford snaps 119-day drought, plays FA Cup hero after Manchester United departure

Marcus Rashford is finally off and running at Aston Villa.

The England international delivered on a crucial stage, too, with Villa struggling to unlock Preston North End in the FA Cup quarterfinal.

In the end, the former Manchester United man was the hero as the visitors put away three second half goals to advance to Wembley.

Rashford scored twice, Villa’s first two tallies.

The first came on a precise, low cross in from the wing as Lucas Digne picked out Rashford, who slotted it home in the 58th minute.

Five minutes later, Rashford converted calmly from the penalty spot, and any Preston upset dreams were squashed.

Rashford hadn’t scored a goal since Dec. 1, when he put two past Everton for Manchester United.

The 27-year old had played in nine matches for Villa without scoring before making his mark on Saturday’s FA Cup proceedings.

Finally with the drama of United behind him, Rashford looks ready for a strong run-in to the season and the potential pursuit of trophies in the Champions League and FA Cup.
