FC Barcelona’s squad for the new season looks complete despite the club not planning on bringing another player this summer. In a few days, Barcelona will play its La Liga opener against Mallorca. After the game, a departure in Barcelona could happen, with the transfer window closing on September 1.
The player who’s future at Barcelona is in doubt is Hector Fort, who has been linked to a move away.
Clubs linked to the young right back have been circulating around Spain, but a new exclusive report from Matteo Moretto suggests a move to the Premier League could be his next step.
Moretto reports that Aston Villa has inquired about Hector Fort from Barcelona. Fabrizio Romano adds that talks are ongoing and the player may potentially leave the club. Fort currently has a contract with Barcelona until June 2026.
Aston Villa’s current first choice right-back is Poland international Matty Cash. Other right-backs in the club are Andres Garcia and Lamare Bogarde.
Hector Fort’s Senior Career at FC Barcelona
Hector Fort has been one of the best young talents from La Masia, but his game time with the first team has not been enough compared to young stars like Pau Cubarsi and Lamine Yamal.
Fort has made 30 appearances for FC Barcelona, with most of his appearances coming from the past season.
Last season, Fort made 17 appearances in La Liga with five of them as a starter. He played two games in the Champions League and played one game in the Copa Del Rey.
Fort played in two of the five preseason games FC Barcelona had this summer. He didn’t feature a single minute against Como 1907 in the Joan Gamper Trophy final, which suggested that he would not be a part of Hansi Flick’s plans for next season.
