Aston Villa hold firm on star midfielder as PSG and Premier League giants circle

Aston Villa have no intention of selling Morgan Rogers this summer despite growing transfer interest from PSG and Chelsea.

Rogers has emerged as one of Villa’s most valuable assets after a breakout 2024/25 season, and according to CaughtOffside, his performances in the Premier League in recent months have caught the attention of PSG scouts.

Rogers notched up 14 goals and 15 assists across all competitions in 2024/25 and also featured in 12 UEFA Champions League matches, helping Villa progress deep into the tournament.

According to The Independent, Chelsea recently added Rogers to their summer shortlist as the midfielder’s pace, close control and creativity have highlighted him one of the league’s most watched young players.

Despite mounting interest, Villa are ready to block all offers, with former chief scout Mick Brown telling Football Insider Unai Emery is resolute on keeping Rogers.

“Aston Villa want to keep hold of Rogers. I’m not surprised top clubs are looking at him, because he’s been excellent.”

“He plays such a key role in Unai Emery’s team, I don’t think he or they have any interest in letting him go any time soon. There are plenty of other players they could sell before they look at him.”

PSG hope Champions League factor can lure star

PSG are banking on their recent UCL title success to lure Rogers and other summer target with their recent Champions League trophy lift boosting its reputation among English players looking to move abroad.

However, Rogers is central to Villa’s long-term plan even amid financial strain of missing out on a UCL place for 2025/26.

The England international’s value continues to rise. But for now, Aston Villa are holding the line.
