Aston Villa have announced their third new signing in the ongoing summer transfer window on Friday.
Aston Villa signed Evann Guessand from Ligue 1 club Nice on a five-year deal, which is reportedly worth €35m ($47m).
Prior to Guessand’s arrival, the Premier League side had welcomed goalkeeper Marco Bizot from Brest and Yasin Ozcan from Turkish club Kasimpasa. However, the latter was loaned out to Anderlecht.
Guessand turned heads with his performances for his boyhood club Nice, where he registered 21 goals and 15 assists in 109 performances. He was also on season-long loans to Lausanne-Sport and Nantes, respectively.
The 24-year-old forward’s efforts on the pitch made him a transfer prospect this summer for several clubs, including Leeds United and Crystal Palace.
Guessand was also offered a massive contract by Saudi Pro League club Neom. However, he decided to join Aston Villa after a discussion with head coach Unai Emery, as per ESPN.
